Is it a good idea for a college student to use a student loan to pay for off campus housing? - college federal loan student
The son of my friend wants to rent an apartment off campus with a friend. You go to university in a small rural community with a reasonable rent. He has learned (and familiar with the area believe it's true) that the off-campus housing, including adequate food, is actually better than life on campus. My question is: How do you think is not desirable, not for private (pay-federal) loans to off-campus housing. He has a scholarship that paid for all of your tuition fees, and if really pay for everything you need for the accommodation. He works in the school during the summer. It is not enough to pay the rent with the rest of the year, especially with summer classes, he is about it.

Well .. Yes and No. .. If you receive financial aid or scholarships to cover his accommodation on campus, then supported.
If he having to pay out of pocket for these services, you have to move it outside the school when cheaper Wher.

By all means yes its ok.
Make sure that you really believe that the cost of housing as well as gases in traveling back and forth, and perhaps pay for parking (when driving). Factor bus / subway, etc, if no result. Think of the lost time because of travel and how often you can go back to school on any given day.
